Feel like family

Because here, you’re our family
When you’re not well, who can you trust to care for you? People who know how to take care of their own loved ones. Those are the type of people who founded the Center on Aging and Health in 2001.

Skilled Nursing

They wanted a nurturing facility where their parents would be:
To the Stricklands’ disappointment, this all-around facility of their dreams did not yet exist. So they created it themselves.

“We’re blessed to have this nursing home.”

We’re blessed to have a place for mom to be and it’s close to home. We’re thankful they’re there. The county is really blessed that we have this nursing home. I feel that my mother is getting the best care that she can.

The perks of modern medicine, the attention of dedicated staff. You deserve both.

In 2017, new owners took over the Center on Aging and Health. They committed to an even higher level of care, devoting themselves to every resident who entrusts them with their treatment. At the same time, they brought innovative ideas to the Center — cutting-edge ways to use technology to keep residents healthy and help them heal.

Advanced treatments like:

TeleMedicine

24-hour/7-day virtual access to a trained physician

So you don’t have to wait until the next day — or even a few hours — for the medical intervention you need.

Restore

A video-game based therapy that builds and tests dexterity, cognition, and movement.

So your therapy is not only fun, but also stretches your limits so you make more progress.

We are the only facility in the area to use both Restore and TeleMedicine.

Of course, other facilities have doctors they can call when a medical emergency arises. We do too.

But you can’t compare a phone call to seeing the doctor live on the screen in front of you, in your room, from your bed.

With TeleMedicine, you can interact with the doctor and ask questions, so he really understands what’s bothering you.

TeleMedicine allows doctors to make more accurate clinical judgments, preventing unnecessary hospital readmissions.

So you feel better — and get better treatment.

Drew Schwenke, RN

Assistant Director of Nursing

I have a combined 15 years of medical experience in trauma/ neurosurgery, pediatrics, Home Health, Hospice, and Skilled/Long term care.  I am thankful for each of these experiences which I believe has helped mold me into the nurse that I am today.

I am passionate about building relationships and caring for my residents, staff, and co-workers. My co-workers here have quickly become my 2nd family.

I  enjoy teaching, leading, and communicating ideas with staff to help improve patient care together as a team.

I love spending time with my residents by listening to stories from their past experiences and learning new things from them.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my two boys, and my dogs. I enjoy going to my boys football games, hiking, camping, weekend trips to new places and going to concerts.

Pastor Kevin Laws

Chaplain
A pastor for 16 years — including 4 years as Chaplain of the Center on Aging and Health — Pastor Laws is a shoulder that all the residents (and staff) lean on. His unfailing support and caring words of comfort bring them and their families a sense of peace. Thanks to his specialized training in Alzheimer’s and dementia support — and his kind, listening ear — he is uniquely suited to counsel residents through sickness and end-of-life.

In his spare time, Pastor Laws enjoys the company of his family and friends — and a good fishing pole.
